Andrea Medina is a reporter for WGN-TV News. For nearly a decade, she has had the privilege of capturing, editing and reporting countless stories for various TV newsrooms across the Midwest. Throughout her career, she has covered a wide range of significant events, including the reopening of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, protests for racial equality, the Cincinnati Bengals' historic Super Bowl appearance in 2022, the tragic 4th of July parade in Highland Park, and former Chicago Alderman Ed Burke's federal corruption case. From breaking news stories to in-depth features, Andrea's role has been vital in delivering accurate information and shedding light on events that have shaped our world. One of Andrea’s notable contributions during her time at WGN-TV and previous stations is her involvement in the annual series commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month. Through close collaboration with fellow reporters and producers, she works to craft narratives that celebrate culture and heritage, highlighting the contributions of the Latino community.
Andrea holds a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism, which she earned in 2015 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Outside of her journalistic pursuits, she enjoys exploring the vibrant Chicago restaurant scene with her husband, considering herself a pizza connoisseur. In her free time, Andrea values spending time with her family and friends, playing volleyball, taking walks with her dogs, traveling and actively engaging in community activities.
