To establish, maintain, and promote a network for the empowerment and advancement of Latina/Latino alumni, students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and within the community at large.
The University of Illinois Latina/Latino Alumni Association was informally established in late 2008 and formally recognized as an affiliate of the University of Illinois Alumni Association in mid-2009. Led in its first year by a combined Steering Committee and Board of Directors, we established bylaws, functional committees, and an Executive Board. Today we hold 501(c)(3) status, are actively recruiting members, and are building dynamic programming around what our members need.
We've worked diligently to build a strong foundation for an association that reflects the strength and varied experiences of the Latina/Latino community at and from the University of Illinois.
