Daisy Návar, a proud native Chicagoan of Mexican descent, has over 15 years of experience as a political strategist and operative in Illinois. Specializing in campaign organization and candidate advocacy, Daisy has dedicated her career to addressing cultural and socioeconomic inequities through organizing and advocacy efforts. Her passion for social justice is deeply rooted in her lived experience as a first-generation college graduate, which fuels her commitment to creating lasting impacts within the communities she serves. Daisy’s professional journey includes serving as the former co-chair for SEIU Local 1 Professional Bargaining Unit of the Chicago News Guild and being a member of both the Service Employees International Union and the Communications Workers of America, where she has advocated for workers' rights and economic justice. She has worked on numerous electoral campaigns, successfully electing public officials at various levels of government. Daisy has championed equity and the rights of underserved communities. Her work has taken her across Illinois and throughout the Midwest, where she has focused on building strong, supportive communities and creating safe spaces for those whose voices are often overlooked. Daisy holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Illinois. As an undergraduate student, she was actively involved in various roles, including serving as a Global Studies intern, student librarian, youth conference facilitator, and tutored at George Washington Middle School. She also participated in open mic nights at Café Paradiso and “Lunch and Learns” at La Casa, and proudly became a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma International Sorority, Inc. Daisy’s leadership and dedication were recognized when she was honored with the prestigious Jean F. Hill Student Leadership Award. In her spare time, Daisy enjoys exploring new coffee shops, reading at her local public library, and playing pick-up basketball games. She is also a devoted Chicago sports fan and loves spending time with her rescue pup, Charlie, in their North Side, Chicago home. |
