Pablo E Hernández specialized in Community Health Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While there, he became a brother of one of the Divine Nine - Iota Phi Theta Black Fraternity. He has dedicated over 30 years of his professional journey in the healthcare space. During the late 1980’s, in the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, he worked at the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Medicine training healthcare professionals. He later became a member of the Hispanic HIV National Faculty for the American Red Cross, the first Latino in Chicago to do so. Currently, he continues to work in healthcare for a Federally Qualified Health Center. He has served the working poor and underserved communities in Migrant, Homeless, and Community Health Center’s to ensure access to affordable healthcare services. In the mid 1990’s he served as the Board President of a Migrant Health Center in Illinois. Most recently, he served on the planning committee for the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, La Casa Cultural Latina 50th Anniversary Celebration. For fun, he dedicates his free time coaching and training the fundamentals of baseball to a 12U travel baseball team in Chicago. |
