Dynamic New Leadership Takes Helm at the University of Illinois Latina/Latino Alumni Association
Chicago, IL – July 31, 2024 – The University of Illinois Latina/Latino Alumni Association (LLAA) proudly announces its vibrant new Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term. This diverse group of 22 alumni members, including the newly elevated ex-officio member Heather A. Hathaway-Miranda, is set to lead LLAA into an exciting future.
Representing alumni from five decades, including the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s, the new Board includes professionals from various sectors such as corporate, nonprofit, healthcare, tech, finance, philanthropy, journalism, law, public relations, and government. This broad spectrum of expertise highlights the rich tapestry of experiences within the Latine community.
Cristian Biviano, President/Chair of LLAA, shared his excitement: "We are thrilled to welcome this dynamic and diverse group of leaders to our Board. Their collective energy and vision will drive LLAA to new heights. We remain dedicated to supporting Latina/o/x/e alumni and advocating for Latina/o/x/e students on the Illinois campus."
Francisco Martinez, Vice President/Vice Chair of LLAA, emphasized the importance of diversity and lived experiences: "Our Board's strength lies in its diversity. Each member brings a unique perspective shaped by their professional journeys and personal backgrounds. This variety enriches our ability to connect with and serve our community effectively. We will build on the accomplishments of previous Boards and continue to provide valuable resources and advocacy for our alumni and students."
The new Board aims to expand on the initiatives and successes of its predecessors, ensuring that LLAA remains a pivotal resource for Latine alumni and a steadfast advocate for Latine students. With their varied expertise and dedication, the 2024-2026 Board of Directors is committed to fostering a supportive and empowering environment for the Latine community at the University of Illinois.

The University of Illinois Latina/Latino Alumni Association (LLAA) was informally established in late 2008 and formally recognized as an affiliate of the University of Illinois Alumni Association in 2009.
